Debt Collector & CCJ help please

OK
I have found out I have a CCJ registered against me for a debt from around 4/5 years ago. I have spoken to the court where it was registered and she gave me the account details, how much it was for and when it was registered.
It was registered in March 2004 at a property I wasnt living at (can be proved by tenancy agreements). Obviously they sent all of the documents to that address and I didnt see anything.
The lady said that i could probably appeal against the CCJ once the account has been settled.
I phoned 3 (yes 3!) different DCA, finally finding the one who currently holds the debt.
He tried to get me to pay in full, i said I would need to send him a letter with an offer.
What should I do? I dont even remember this debt (its for Singlepoint).
Secondly, how do i go about appealing against the CCJ?
Any help welcome.

Further Details:
They already have my current address (I have lived her for nearly 4 years) but i gave them my home telephone number (not my mobile).
I havent made a payment for at least 4 years, i dont think i made one before that but could be wrong.
Thinking back it is probably to do with an old mobile bill.
As I have the CCJ would requesting a CCA make any difference? If not what are my options?
The amount is for £174.35. Not a massive amount, but I am stretched to the limit as it is. Should i send them a Full and Final Settlement Offer?
How do i go about trying to get the CCJ off? I have been refused credit in the past, this is probably why. I dont want any further credit until next year when I will be looking at a mortgage, so ideally want the CCJ off before then.

Hi Amy
You can apply to the courts for the CCJ to be set aside.
The details are here, although i have no personal experience with CCJ's

As you were not living at the property to which the summons was sent, there was no way you could have defended yourself.
As you had asked in another thread, with this information - it probably would help to request a copy of the CCA from the DCA. You will need to include the £1 postal order, but hopefully that will be returned if they do not have it.

If it's Singlepoint then it's likely to be a Mobile Phone contract. I don't believe these are covered by the CCA. So sending a CCA Request, probably won't do much other than delay there pursuit.
Hope you get it sorted.LBM : March 2008

Thanks Tigert.
Well what I have decided to do is:
1) Send a form to the court requesting that the CCJ is removed (i have valid reasons etc.)
2) Send a full and final settlement offer to the Debt Collectors and see where it takes me. If they decline i will see what i can offer them and arrange something.
Hopefully this should mean the debt will be settled and the CCJ removed (fingers crossed)

Although you can't CCA request them for a Mobile Contract. It's still worth asking them for a breakdown of the debt.
Some of it might be for DCA charges which if they have wrongly enforced a CCJ against you, you might be able to get them reduced. All good ammunition for a full and final offer.LBM : March 2008
