How much for a no fault divorce?

My friend has been separated from her husband for 5 years, she lives with her boyfriend (they jointly own their house) their new baby and her daughter from the marriage.
All the assets were split and child maintenance and contact agreed years ago, they still get on well but on getting on with their own lives.
Now she would like to formalise things and feels its time to get divorced. How much is this likely to cost? I understand that as they have been apart from so long they will be able to do this simply as a no fault divorce.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Choccyface
Can't remember exact figure but it's less than 200 pounds in total
My ex hubbie and I did similar last year and it was just a case of getting the forms (which are free from the court) - one of us petitioning and then we had to include a statement for the children (separate form) which basically contained the arrangements for their care.
Think the total figure was about 160 pounds if I remember rightly.0 -
Hi and thanks for this, so you didn't see a solicitor or anything?

Nope - no need - we had already gone through a solicitor for selling our jointly owned property so like your friend all the financial aspects were sorted and arrangements for the kids were already sorted amicably.choccyface2006 wrote: »Hi and thanks for this, so you didn't see a solicitor or anything?

If both parties are truly amicable then there is no need to involve a solicitor as it will add cost (we even filled in the forms together)
Good luck x0 -

Its £300.00 for the divorce petition issue fee and £40.00 to apply for Decree Absolute.....it rises every year!
She completes the forms from here:
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/HMCSCourtFinder/GetForm.do?court_forms_id=1115
If there are children she will also need to complete this:
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/HMCSCourtFinder/GetForm.do?court_forms_id=158
She will need to lodge the origiginal + 1 copy with the court together with the £300.00 fee.
If she is on a low income/benefits she can complete the fee exemption form to see if she can get an exemption/reduction of the fee:
