AVG component status

could not be detected-connection failed.the icon is greyed out in taskbar and right clicking won't shut it down either.AVG comes on and i managed to update it earlier on ( but from start menu as clicking the icon is a waste of time).so it's up to date and all the searching i've done hasn't brought a resolution to the problem-re-installing is the last resort as i don't want v8 on the system.i've been using 7.5 for god knows how long.any help would be appreciated

I've been getting that intermittedly too, I find rebooting the PC seeems to solve it & making sure maintenance is done regularly - I use Tune-up for that

can you revert to 7.5 do you know cos I'm not all that impressed its so resorce greedy....

tried rebooting twice before i started searching for answers.i've just looked and i had 7.0 until Jan last year then i installed 7.5.not even sure if 8 is compatible wirh ME but i've heard horror stories about it

dunno if that helps about reverting back but all i did was google 'can i revert back to avg 7.5 from 8'
