I know you guys must be p!ssed at seeing 20 of these everyday! But it's not stopping me start another!
Basically I don't really need a machine for gaming, but would like one capable of running Adobe CS2 reasonably well. Other than that it will only be used for documents, internet, music etc.
So what do I need? I assume a fast processor and high RAM. What about graphics cards? Are they soley for gaming or do I need a decent one of those aswell?
Is this any good? It's a customised Dell Inspiron 1720 and all this comes in at £588.99.
Intel® Pentium Dual Core Processor T2390 (1.86Ghz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
17.0" Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT Display with TrueLife™
3072MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [1x2048+1x1024]
160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
nVidia® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Software
Edit:
And this for another £5 but I haven't got a clue what it does! :rotfl:

Adobe CS2 needs RAM in shedloads. The graphics card is pretty irrelevent these days as they're all up to the job.
The one you've chosen is well up to the job but I'd be seeing how much difference getting it with only 1GB is and then adding 2GB from Crucial as Dell are pricey on RAM upgrades and the Crucial stuff is guaranteed 100% compatible with a lifetime warranty.0 -

Do you mean see how much it is with 1GB of RAM or the not as good graphics card?
I'm a computer dunce! :rotfl:0 -
Both although if there's not an option to downgrade the graphics, just the RAM. The basic onboard graphics cards do the job. The nVidia is only really going to give you any advantage over onboard in 3D stuff such as CAD and gaming - neither of which you're going to do.0
