Checking your credit report. Advice needed please

Hi, we need to check my boyfriends credit report and would like to know if anyone has any recommendations as where to do it? Should we just apply to each agency individually or is there somewhere that does the 3 main ones all in one go?
Also, he has been living at my house for 4 years now but as his credit history is awful, I do not want him financially linked to me in anyway. Are these reports sent via email rather than post and could we just put his previous address down (he last lived there over 5 years ago but has never given out my address as his new address to anyone other than for work). He is on the electrol role at my address though.
Sorry, another question: does it go on your report that you have looked at it? Will any debtors be able to track you down because of your search?
Thanks for your help
Sammy

Each individually. You can't put his previous address down as that's where they'll go and if he's on the electoral roll at your address, it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever now. The creditors can already track him down by a simple electoral roll check. If you've any joint finances, you're already linked and it'll show whether you are or not in the credit reports.0

where do you get this infomation from. What is the experian free trial thing. How far does it go back and what does it tell you things like.0

It goes back 6 years. It'll list where you're registered at on the electoral roll, previous addresses, linked addresses, linked finances, all bank accounts, all credit taken out (including contract phones etc, and what the balances are plus the payment status for every payment due, all credit searches regardless of success or not, any defaults or CCJs or bankruptcies.
You need to go to Experian and Equifax's websites. The free trial is a 30 day one and will give you a report online. You need to give payment details and then ring to cancel within 30 days.

HOWEVER I've just found this which claims to be the only site to poll all three reference agencies:

Will checking your report open a can of worms? I just went to do it but chickened out before I clicked the continue button.0

No, the information on there is already there.0

I went onto the experian website and they want a payment method which is fine by me, but won't take solo card, and I don't have anything else. Bit of a bummer really.LBM £18463.32 in debt 10th June 2008,£12470.99 in debt 10th June 2009.:jTime flies like an arrow.
Fruit flies like a banana.

If he's on the electoral roll then they should have been able to find him if they really wanted to I think...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Thats very odd, I think I am going to check my file although there shoukd be nothing dodgy about me, it is my boyfriend we are worried about as his debts are from around the same time as yours are and he has just started getting letters.
How come if they re sending you letters they are not chasing you more actively for the money?
MrsTine, they have just tracked him to my address, which is why he is thinking of moving out.0 -

That'll achieve absolutely nothing. It's not going to make them go away and its not going to improve his credit. In fact by moving out, in a 12 month period the cost of running his own place is likely to cost as much as he probably owes. It costs £5-£7000 at the very least just to put a roof over your head before you even turn on the electric and heat the place.0
