  • Thanks Newlywed that sounds like just the sort of approach I have in mind. By the way do you know it is free or cheap listings day on ebay today?

And most of the letters that do come from creditors, debt collection agencies etc are computer generated anyway so don't be scared of a computer ;)

They threaten to default you, thinking it will cause you a big panic - it just means a black mark on your credit rating - and usually means interest will stop - that's all ;)

Even if they threaten to go to court, because you are paying your debt through the DMP in a responsible manner, the courts are not likely to issue an order for much else other than to carry on paying as you are.

  • I am supposed to be working from home today but have spent all morning on here!! Now I think I will list some items on eBay and work tomorrow (which is normally my day off) instead.
thanks for your advice and well done for managing on your DMP so far, I can't tell you how much speaking to you this morning has helped.

I have a pretty good idea ;) There is a whole thread of "DMP mutual support" and without the people on there helping me with my questions, I'd never have had the guts to contact CCCS to start the DMP.

Since I know how much others helped put my mind at rest, I try to pass a little of that on if I can :D

The thread is here by the way, if you ever want to pop in with any questions or comments: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=729285

    Hi Rubydoiwannabee,

I opened two basic bank accounts :o

    1. HSBC basic account comes with cashpoint card only (for my wages to be paid into and direct debit payments to taken from)

    2. A Yorkshire bank basic account as this comes with a debit card. I then transfer what ever money is left after paying direct debits to this account. I take the debit card with me for emergencies petrol etc groceries. But to help me budget better and enable me to see exactly where my money is going I have started drawing out cash each week and living off this, as I find I am spending less doing it this way)

The way my finances are looking at the moment come payday I will have £135.00 left in my bank. Which for me is a novel experience, as I am usually in negative figures. I have decided to put any money left each month into a savings account and to see if when I get a reasonable amount saved (providing no emergencies crop up) I can offer F&F payments to individual creditiors to get my debt reduced quicker.

I suppose it is just a case of finding out what really works for you!

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask..

    Caz ;)
