aplication but no response...

I applied for a credit card about 3-4 months ago for an egg card but I did it online thinking it would be quicker. I never heard anything though and I got a report from the 2 main credit report companies and its not showing a search on there from them. I just wondered, I gave egg permission to search my credit file but they didnt and I heard nothing back from them. Are they legally allowed to search it anytime they want to now claiming I gave permission or is there a time limit? I ask because I dont want them to mess up my credit rating by searching when im applying for something else.

edit: something else too, just been reading through my report from experian and noticed something strange. I applied for a nationwide credit card in december 2003 but the only search showing on my file for nationwide is 25/sep/04. I didnt apply on this date and was actually on holiday abroad on this date! Is that something to be worried about?

Are you sure you completed the application?

I thought that egg let you know straight away if you had been accepted, so it's strange you haven't heard anything.

Im sure it said they would let me know when they had checked or something. A friend of mine also did one and it didnt let them know there and then. Im not bothered because I dont really want one anymore its just I dont want them to be able to search and send me a card months later!

You should probably ring them up and tell them that then!

Email egg cs via your online egg account, i applied recently, was referred and then didnt hear anything for 2 weeks, i emailed them using secure messaging and was told that i had been approved for £7,000,which isnt surprising given my outstanding credit history, they apologised for not advising me earlier but their had been a system error, my card duly arrived yesterday(Thursday).
