I am away to lay down an area of aggregate in my garden and require to buy black membrane. Does anyone know of any good deals at the moment?

the best type called Mypex, is very expensive, however, you can use anything to cover the ground under aggregates, as long as you make some holes in it to allow the water to seep away.
we have used the blue plastic tarpaulins, think they were about £1 each from B&Q, or a roll of damp proof course works well. just lay out, and stab all over with a garden fork. does the job, for a lot less money

These are quite good prices but might be more than you need!

Mypex or Phormisol are OK, but the gravel can slide about on them a bit. The very best thing is heavy-duty geofabric likeTDP115 from LBS Garden Warehouse, but it's pricey at £3.42 per metre. (4 square metres as it is 4m wide) Mypex/Phormisol comes in at £2.38 for 4 square metres from LBS.

As this is a money saving site, I'd agree with flea72's suggestions if the feel of the finished surface isn't that important.0 -
We've been pleased with the landscape fabric from Screwfix - used as a base under 20mm and 40mm gravel. Reasonable price and allows for free drainage, no weeds or roots come through in five years - apart from ruddy bluebells which seem to penetrate everything! Only problem is the minimum quantity they supply and the need to "hem" the edges because of fraying.0
