Can't access certain website some of the time!?!?!

Options
Hi all,

Got a problem with my laptop.

Everything used to be fine but recently I've had problems accessing website like Yahoo, google and skysports.com. Most of the time I'm able to access them, no problem but, sometimes they take ages to load and ultimately fail to load.

I've tried switching off my firewall briefly to see if this is the problem but this doesn't make any difference. I've recently had a few spyware attacks and I think that this may be the cause of the problem but I've used ZoneAlarm Security Suite's spyware scanner and 'Spybot Search & Destroy' but they both come up clean now.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Which browser are you using?

Nvm - got to go offline for a bit.

In the meantime, if you're on a site that won't load, try doing a 'hard refresh' - hold down your Ctrl key and hit F5 and see if that'll sort it for the timebeing.

It happens when I use both IE and Firefox.
I'll try the hard refresh thing next time but I get the feeling thay it maybe something to do with a virus or spyware. There have also been occations recently when certain pages were continuously loading over and over again and the laptop felt like it was getting really bogged down with processes to do.

You've probably just picked a bit of spyware/adware up somewhere. Get a good cleaner from somewhere (I'm sure there's a post in the freebie forum with one), run that, then reboot. Remember to do a back-up first (if it's a decent cleaner it'll have that option). I'd also advice going to the Firefox site and getting a few plug-ins, like AdBlock etc.

I use Avast (free for home users) anti virus and SpySweeper (for blocking ad/spyware) and they're both great for stopping cr*p getting through.

Download "crapcleaner" and give your PC a good clean up with this free download.
