OK, found out from a Tesco person that these are being discontinued so that's why they are so cheap....and why you wouldn't have been able to find any if you were looking! If all the old stock was gone, they wouldn't have been restocking.

    really????
in our two tesco's i visit and 3 asdas these are now fully stocked and back to 30p a box

Huh? And these are the Dried SLICED Onions? Because they have one that's just Dried Onions which is 25p in Sainsbury's. The Tesco person said that Whitworth's were discontinuing that line hence the low, low price and any overstock after promotion date was to be sent back to the manufacturer....

The ones I picked up in Tesco's a couple of weeks ago (full price:mad: ) were dried onions (no sliced in the title) but were obviously sliced (you can't get a whole onion in one piece in that box!!) and chopped - maybe they've just changed the box design.

After reading some of this thread I wish I had a Mr. T's near me. I am in the only area of the country not to have a Mr. T's near them. The nearest one is an hours drive away.

no I live over an hours drive from nearest one too, or any supermarket come to think of it,local shops here have really high prices too  I go to MR T once a month to stock up and then just buy milk from corner shop,if I had to shop locally I think we'd starve.

I think I have the ones you're talking about but I assumed they were onion PIECES vs SLICES....if you see what I mean...and *LOL* yes, it would be tough to get a whole onion in the box! :rotfl: I assumed the sliced ones would be like onion rings...

The blancmange is back in too, but again, at full price (around 69p mark- didn't buy any as not a bargain now!)
I know strawberries are in season, but how about the large tins of strawberries in juice for just 25p when theyre over? Pears 25p too. Have a really long date, so good store cupboard standby.
    Or Lyle's black treacle 454g for 27p?
Have found the cake decorations, pastry mix, cake kit and bread mix and will try these out soon. Would also welcome tips for achieving a less "thudding," texture if anyone has any!
These and other bargains were found thanks to the tesco mega reductions thread on the grabbit board. Here's the link if it helps.

Managed to get the tinned strawberries for 25p today (thanks, Grannybiker).

The tins of Mandarin broken segments are back down to 11p (19p last time)
The tinned value Custard has a SEL of 26p but scanned at 19p
Sugar Strands, actually managed to find some at 12p (pity the choc. ones are 84p!
    Tinned Peaches 29p
Galaxy Choc Bars (150g) are 48p
Little tubes of glitter (5 or 6 each a different colour) 25p
Tesco Steam Haddock with Leek/Cheese 50p (non left but mention these in case anyone else is successful elsewhere - think there were 2 in the pack, only saw the label)
Tesco Hazelet - pack of 8 slices 55p (used to be about 49p)
    Savoy Cabbage 50p

Not 10P, but I have just picked up 4 nice pillowcases from my local Tesco (2 in Pale Pink and 2 in pale blue) for 35P each seems like a very good bargain

Not 10p, but 500g Royal icing sugar (Tate and Lyle) now 22p. Use by December 2009. I generally buy this at Christmas and use up any left just mixing it with water for fairy cakes. My kids don't notice the difference between that and normal icing sugar.
