Money to invest before i spend it!

Hello,

I've just had a small win fall (lucky me!! :o ) and would like to invest the money so i don't spend it! Can anyone help point me in the right direction of a good savings account - a fixed rate would be good? I would also think about tying the money up for a couple of years if it was worth it but don't want to put my money at risk.

Any ideas? anyone you think i should avoid?

If you're a taxpayer & don't already have one, you may want to look at a Cash ISA for up to £3,600 of your funds, fixed-rate or variable are available - see this post & here.

For any balance, there are some reasonable fixed rate accounts at around 7% up to 1 year/up to 3 years but the interest on those will be taxable.
