Platinum credit cards

What sort of annual income do you need to be earning to have either a platinum or gold card?
I'd ideally like one with a large limit so I can transfer balances over and have one credit card rather than two.
Any help would be appreciated.

Think 20 - 25 K would be the minimum figure.0

Not sure why do you need a Gold/Platinum card for that? They don't necessarily give larger limits on these cards.
MBNA usually provide generous limits for good risks. have a look at Martin's stoozing guide for tips on how to maximise balance transfers.0 -
I'm on £35k and got a barclaycard platinum with a credit limit of £7k don't know if this is standard but HTH0

A rose by any other name...
Platinum, Gold, Black, Red, Blue, Premier, Preferred, Exclusive etc - these are all just fancy names to make you believe you're getting a better card. Just go for the card with the credit limit that you want. MBNA services a whole host of cards, with credit limits starting from £500 up to Bob's Your Uncle. The more you use the card, the more your credit limit will go up...as long as you make the required minimum repayments, of course!
I had an Egg card with a starting credit limit of £1000, I made several purchases on it over the space of a year, and they started increasing my limit bit by bit, until I had a credit limit of £10000!
It's handy to keep one card strictly for BTs and nothing else. And another card strictly for purchases and nothing else. That way you won't be whacked with "payment allocation". KISS, baby!0 -
I agree with DestroyingAngel.
When Lloyds TSB changed their credit cards recently from Visa to Mastercard they upped my credit limit and sent me a 'Platinum Mastercard'.
I'm a student with a part time income! Ignore the name or colour of the card - go for whichever has the best deal on balance transfers if that's what you need the card for.0
