Yes the income would be taxable.
She doesn't need a letting agent, you both just need to understand her rights/obligations.0 -
And draw up a proper AST else you'll have a nightmare later.
And get her to protect your deposit.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
My neighbour rents from her dad.
He does all sorts of "naughty" stuff. She went out the other day and he came round and let himself in with her step mum. And they left her a note telling her to cut the grass.
She had no idea they were coming round and was a bit miffed because they don't like her bf and if she'd known they were going to let themselves in or come round she'd have hidden his bits/pieces (he doesn't live there, he just pops round about once a week) but she's been there/with him for years so I guess he's got one or two things kicking about, like you would.
She's mid 30s, single, no kids, works, is no trouble at all. What she does is none of their business and as LLs they can't let themselves in like that.... but she can't say anything because the relationship has been strained for years (which is why he bought the flat in the first place, to get her out of their house/away from her step mother)
Families, eh!0
