Have you thought about a 'nearly new' or 'pre-registered' car as opposed to brand new - you will probably get a significant discount.

With credit, either negotiate a really good interest rate, or arrange a personal loan (typically 6.4% - you might find one better). That way you can offer to buy the car for cash - sometimes that provides a better deal, sometimes worse as the salesperson loses the commission from the finance company.

if your not bothered about the make of car - then go and look at Hyundai(engine made by Kia )

We got a Hyundai Santa fe in march and saved £2500 off the retai price they also gave us a brilliant part ex on our s reg peugot 406 (£1500 ) which had 75,000 miles on clock - best part ex elsewhere was £1000. It drives like a dream and is so comfortable.

The extras you pay for on other makes come as standard on Hyundai. Compare model for model with other makes and you are quids in with Hyundai.

You also get 5 years warranty (lifetime warranty in september, not sure if this is on in october as got a flyer from them a bit back )

Friends just brought a Hyundai Coupe and was well impressed by the amount of car you get for your money. they got one 6 months old and still got the lifetime warranty. The warranty is carried from owner to owner so you will not loose it. we are the third on our street to buy Hyundai and everyone is more then happy with them.

If your not bothered about the badge look at Hyundai you will get more car for your money.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

The pre-reg/nearly new idea, is well worth looking at, BUT....

Find out if it isn't car that's been returned, by an unhappy customer.

Or that it's not been a courtesy car.

& how much your REALLY saving against the haggle price of new.

Plus you'll be loosing however many months tax/warranty a new one would have.

It'll be worth perhaps hundreds less, on trade in time, if it's not current registration, bare that in mind.

Plus, you won't have quite the same consumer rights as if it was new - it's now a USED car you'll buy!!

The dealer might well have better finance deals - low rate or 0% on the new one, but not the used one!!

& don't think that auctions only have old cars - if you're willing to buy there, you can make substantial savings on late models.

Give us an idea of what you fancy & I'll let you have some prices, you might pay in a sale.

    Hi weaver,
Was wondering if you can pls help?
I was really impressed with the spec of the new santa fe 2006 & am seriously thinking of getting one:)
    Just a few things:
Are they really that massive? as this is the 4x4 version with the 7 seats, slightly larger than santa fe mark 1 i am worried about parking etc
Also, am i being thick!!, but when you say life time warranty, is that literally lifetime? where does the 5 yrs come into it?
    Thanks in advance:)
No one said it was gonna be easy!
