  • local pick up only a much better option
  • I would simply use a courier so size/ weight wouldn't be so much of an issue.
I remember someone posting this as a special for MSEers...

He said it was £8, but didn't confirm if this was restricted to weight/ size.
    Worth checking out?

  • cheers i'll look at that now. We did state local pick up only but so many people have asked about delivering and more likely to sell them if they can be delivered!

  • I posted 4 off 6X12 mini alloys with tyres.

    They weighed 8kg each

https://www.postvan.co.uk Cost around £50 to courier them. Was interesting wrapping them up.

I would have thought that 16" would weigh plenty over 10kg each, and would then break the weight limit on most couriers.
  • Could try Parcel2Send although you'd have to split them into two packages of two wheels each. As long as they fit into his specified dimensions and are less than 30KG then it should be £9.99 per package, so £20ish to send the lot. Obviously check your dimensions and then confirm with them first. I've never used them but lots of people on here seem to and are happy with the service. Or you could send all four wheels seperately....not ideal but better than nothing.

  • We sold a set a few months back through Ebay. We stated local pick up only, but the guy who bought them was from Reading and we're in the Midlands! Shortly after the auction ended, he emailed to say he would organise his own courier to collect them. So it may be an idea to get the buyer to sort it themselves?
  • When I sent a set of 17s I found a 50*50*25 box was perfect size (got them from a self storage outlet) - the 17s slightly bulged out the sides, so I reckon this size would be ideal for 16" alloys. Cost me about £40 at the time to send all four boxes with interparcel (https://www.interparcel.com) used to be UPS, but now I think its a DHL/Parcel Farce setup on there. ;)

Hope this helps in some way. :D

  • Excellent cheers everyone. I did say to hubby that if the buyer wanted them delivered to sort it themselves as we did state local pickup only. Contacted ebays own courier service and they quoted me £47.
