Tesco Holidays with Clubcard

I have just been quoted two prices for a holiday - one with and one without clubcard vouchers:
without £3090 - two weeks minorca, 3*, h/b - inc 360 early booking discount
with £4906 - as above same hotel.
I asked about the price difference, and was told that this is because the former can offer me discounts, the latter is brochure price....
I have started a new thread, as I wanted to hear other peoples experience on holiday bookings - please put a before and after price on the note.

Have you contacted Clubcard to see whether they are aware of this. I would have thought they had a pricing agreement with the companies that have agreed to take the vouchers but that may not be the case. Tesco are the ones offering the extra value on the vouchers so it should make no difference at all to the company you are booking the holiday with.
Querying it with Tesco themselves should clarify whether the position.0 -
Thats outragous! over £1800 MORE with clubcard vouchers. Is that with Cosmos?
how many is it for? Even the discounted price seems a lot just for 3* HB (unless theres 10 going:-))0 -
It's COSMOS, the first quote was over the phone with them direct on 0800 2980170.
5 people, 2 rooms, Menorca, Hotel if you pm me! 3* + rating. 28 July '06
Just rang French Life, quoted on a Ski holiday, only to find they don't accept club vouchers for ski holidays!0 -
It's normal.
I got 2 prices from Tradewinds when I booked mine. Apparently the discount i was initially offered was because I rang directly rather than go through a travel agent. As soon as I mentioned clubcard, the price shot up as they don't offer discounts if you're paying by clubcard.
Annoying but true. I guess the holiday companies make the rules and can dictate no discounts if you pay by vouchers. No doubt it'll be in the T +C somewhere.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Yeah its in the T&C's - no other discounts apply, difference does seem a little steep though
Based on points being worth 1p, ( x4 = deals) means that you are spending £1226 worth of points for a £3090 holiday
so that equals a 2.52x real value uplift rather than the stated 4x
( making credit card really 1.26% rebate)
so in beef terms suppose still a fair valueAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
It would be good to get the comparisons here, so anymore info would be good to see.
French life seems pretty good, apart from the ski stuff.0 -
I went to France last year , booked with Cresta no difference if paying with vouchers or cash.:j:j:j:j0
-
I also booked with Cresta to Disneyland Paris - again it made no difference to their quote whether I paid with cash or clubcard vouchers.
I could have got the same trip for 20% less by booking independently though. If you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.0
