For the past 2-3 weeks, we have realised that while turning the cold water tap 'ON', there is a 'THUD' noise heard constantly in the beginining from the pipes, i presume.
Can anyone help me to eliminate the noise??

Lots of reasons why pipes are noisy but the most common is that they aren't attached correctly and the second is water hammer. DIY Doctor has a great walk-through article here.
If it's only started in the last 2-3 weeks then it should be curable as something must have changed. We lived in a rented flat with the noisiest pipes in the world but the plumber from the management company said the whole lot needed ripping out so we had to live with it!0 -

Is the tap fed from the mains or is it tankfed, if its the kitchen tap make sure the incoming stopcock is open.Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D0
