As an IT guy I can tell you, they are watching you and they know if you try to use proxies (that is what this is called). If you annoy them enough they can forward it to HR. So take AlMac's advice...

You could look at the Tor project. It's very interesting, with lots of potential applications which is why I've told you about it, but if your employer is paying for your internet connection, it's theft.
There's lots of other implications, too. An admin for a Tor server was arrested recently, when information about a bomb was posted to a website through his server.

There are many creative ways to beat a firewall, proxies being the easiest and tunnelling traffic. But, as already mentioned if the website is blocked by work, your activity is probably being monitored anyway. Some companies have a strict company equipment and connection usage policy, so you could potentially lose your job by "beating the firewall".
