I know the tuners in Humax are very good and sensitive, but I dont know the differences if any between the Humax models. It does tell you when you have one the signal strength
Just a thought but have you thought about getting Freesat (BBC/ITV) the box is around £100+ plus installation of dish you can use Sky dish. PVR are due later this year including Humax0 -
Your problem is unlikely to be with your Freeview box, you should be looking at your aerial in the first instance, is it external and appropriate for your region? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

thanks for your replys which i do apreciate.
i live is a small block with a comunal arieal which we all share, it is outside on the roof and my arial signal checker says it i black hill transmitter i am viewing. also it is a council flat so i dont think i will be able to do anything about the arial.
i do have an astratec topd freeview box which does give me most of the missing channels which i am looking for but the signal strentgh on the channels is about 20%.
thanks0 -
I agree with penrhyn, although different boxes have different quality tuners, some are able to make more of a poor signal than others, 99% of your problem will be down to the signal received by your aerial.
Humax are excellent BTW.
Added to say, what about Freesat, could this be set-up just for you in the communal block? If it's a small block, you could have a feed of approximately 8 from the dish, one to each flat, but you'd need to check with satellite people. One off fee, no subscription, perfect signal.0 -

When I swapped an old Sangean Freeview box for a Humax PVR, Freeview reception was transformed from dodgy to perfect.0

As I mentioned above.

I got the 'Grade A' factory stock whatever that means, as recommended on another thread in MSE some time ago:

£129 + P&P - makes sense not to spend a fortune what with other things like HD Freeview around the corner. Even if I only use it for 1 year before upgrading, it will have been worth it.that is great thanks buglawton which model numbe rdid you buy?0
