writing off debt....

hello, first of all, having read all of the help that you people give is amazing and thanks for your help in advance. only sorry that i have just discovered this site.

i have been on a dmp with the cccs now for approx 3 years. all is going well so far and i have about another 2 years or so left. give or take....

my question is, didnt i read or hear somewhere that you can have a certain % of it written off.... or was i dreaming. a mate of mine told me about this sometime ago.. i am due for a review soon with the cccs, but of late generally find them more and more unhelpful these days...

thanks in advance.. if anyone can shed some light it would be appreciated..

If you van offfer a full and final settlement figure companies often wipe out a percentage of the debt.

Yes... TV... not quite as simple as that unfortunately :) If you are thinking of an IVA please speak to the CCCS - it's not as simple as "I want to do an IVA so that I don't have to pay ALL of it back" - not everyone qualifies for an IVA and if they didn't suggest it when you first spoke to them as an option then I am guessing that for one reason or another you might not qualify. Usually they give you all the options but YOU have to make the decision :)

Hi, does anyone know exactly how much % they tend to accept as F&F Settlement?. Is this due to a Law change as suggested or do companies just want shot of the debt and re-coup anything that they can?.

Anything fom 30% to 75% every situation is different all you can do is ask, companies want rid of the debt as it costs them to chase you.

That's really good advice - thank you, I'll keep plugging away a HSBC to accept my F&F offer then - as I'm up to 50% so far with no room to move now.
