    Hello Tony Montana

    Welcome to the MSE site.

I hope you don't mind but I've moved this thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views.

Hi Tony What area are you from?
  • Cornwall, any suggestions/recommendations on the Van situation?
  • Hi Tony,

I used to drive a renault van and it was the pits, it used to burn oil for fun! The van was brand new and needed topping up with oil every few days!

One one occassion I was on the M6 and it run out of oil, pushing a piston through the side of the engine- the oil warning light did not come on! Cost £2000 for a new engine _pale_

I'd go for a mercedes if possible or even a vauxhall, I have owned both vans and had no problems with either, hated the renault though- very poor build quality!

Have you thought of auction - clik AuctionView link in https://www.honestjohn.co.uk- look in Commercial Auction view. Or ring local (Bridgewater I guess) BCA centre. Ask about the RFS special sections, within the sales. This is Renault Financial Services - their leasing division, which should result in reasonably well, main dealer, maintained vehicles.

Also https://www.whatvan.co.uk has some good info.

Would be worth contacting Reanault car dealers, featured in HJ's site, This Weeks Best Deals page - if they are trying to be competetive in the car market, vans too, maybe!!
