One-off house cleans

I contacted a local company earlier this week to enquire about the cost of having a one-off clean (walls, woodwork, windows etc) when I move out of my flat so it's ready for the landlord to bring a new tenant in. Bearing in mind it's only a moderate sized 2-bed flat, with a tiny kitchen - totally unfurnished apart from carpets to living room and both bedrooms - this is what they quoted me ...

House-clean - £175
Carpets - £100
Travelling/fuel expenses to be charged on top!!!

Do they think I came down with the last rain shower or is this really the going rate for a few hours work!!! :eek:

Needless to say I won't be using them and would rather get out my mop & bucket with vinegar, lemons and bicarb before paying that sort of money!!! :rotfl:

I work for myself, and i have just cleaned an empty 4 bedroomed, 3 bathroom, large kitchen house. And i charged them £100 for the full house. that was all the woodwork, windows inside and outside (downstairs) kitchen cupboards inside and outside, and the carpets were vaxed.

they were that pleased that i have got 2 more of them. Oh and as the house is empty. they have given me a key and have asked me to do 1 hour a week in there. Just to freshen it up. Whilst viewers are looking.

My advice would be to get a good charlady.
