Major Problem with Microsoft Money - Help!

Can anyone help please.
We have recently noticed our computer running really slowly, it turned out to be a problem with money, it seemed that it was not shutting down and was using 99% of the processor. Every time we closed it down it, the same thing would happen again. My husband decided to back up the whole of the money file and then reinstall the money file and then install the backup on top.
He has managed to delete money, and reinstall a new copy but when he tries to reinstall the data it keeps asking for a password. It does not accept the password that we have been using for the last seven years.
Can anyone help, I am desperate not to lose this data it goes back to early 98. My husband is currently trying to find a password crack but is there any other way around this problem.

Your problem may be that you had made online updates to Money so that before the problem, you had a newer version than the one you originally installed. When you reinstalled Money from your CD, your backups wont restore as you are now back to an older version of Money on your PC. Try going online and doing an update then try restoring your backups. At least that worked for me. Its worth a try anyway.0
