Hi All,
Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this because my IT dept haven't got a clue?
When opening a new internet window it takes on average 2 minutes to open up. Once on the internet new pages open instantly, it is just the initial connection I have problems with. Other PC's on the network operate normally. I've checked the IP/DNS addresses and they all seem ok so I'm a bit clueless!

what are the proxy settings set to in ie, tools, internet options, connections.

turn off automatically detect if it's on, make sure all settings match the working pc's.
If that doesn't work, does this pc have any different firewall/AV configuration?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Set to access internet via dial-up in preference to via LAN. Spends time trying to find modem and dial out, before giving up. Maybe???After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

Thanks for your replies guys.I've checked all the settings and they match the other PC's. I've removed recently added software (Adobe, Spybot updates etc) that were not on the others but that's made no difference.All opinions are my own and in no way contain official advice or guidelines.0

Try reinstalling IE or whatever browser you use?0

the most likely cause are the addons being used by internet explorer. Go to :-
Tools ->Manage addons ->Addons currently loaded in Internet explorer.
Disable them one at a time until the load time returns to normal also double check how much temporary internet storage you are using to. (Do you see lots of disk activity as IE is loading?)0 -
I encountered a problem like this recently and found that more than one homepage had been selected to open up.0
