Can anyone please recommend any good family days out in Leicestershire or within easy reach of Leicester for this summer.
Looking for somewhere scenic for relatives and interesting enough to keep boys busy.
Looking for somewhere other than Startford U Avon, Oakham and Chatsworth, Alton Towers where we have been already.

If your sons are about 6-8 years old, I would suggest TwinLakes Park in Melton Mowbray. My son had a fabulous time as the rides are just right for his age. If your boys are older, forget it. They will find the rides "babyish".
We also went to Warwick Castle because I got a very cheap family ticket because it was mispriced and someone kindly posted it on this website. Personally, I quite enjoy it but my son did not even though there was jousting, and other events going on.
It all boils down to the type of activities that you and your boys like to do.0 -

I'd like to go to Leicester with 1 child, stay at Travelodge (maybe), go the space museum say on day 1, go the the Wallace exhibition on day 2, and then travel back. Is parking near the Wallace exhibition reasonably priced, and how long would it take to go round the Wallace exhibition.0

new walk is a Victorian Walkway and as such i would walk there, or else go to town and get a no. 54 bus (centrebus is cheapest) get off at the train station and walk from the station.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
