Best Performing Funds

How would I find out what the current best performing funds are?

I want to invest my share ISA allowance into BRIC countries and wondered how to find out current performance.

Thanks

How would I find out what the current best performing funds are?

    Knowledge, experience, luck, guesswork.

If you are trying to guess the market and are looking to pick a single sector (i.e. emerging countries) then you may as well just go with guesswork and assume it will end in tears. You could look for some consistency in some sectors but the BRIC and emerging markets sectors have had a lot of relatively new entrants with little or no history.

One thing not to forget is that all funds in the same sector do not share the same risk. The top performing fund could be there as its the riskiest and that timescale favoured the risks taken. When times turn bad, that fund could drop to bottom quartile to be replaced with the lower risk versions.

You can check on Citywire or Trustnet for tables of the top performers over various timescales

There are not many funds that focus solely on the 4 BRIC's only, and you'll probably find the Allianz BRIC will come out top on those charts, but as said above that won't mean it'll continue to do so well

It is hard, if not impossible to 'strip' out the various performance of each individual sector from a fund that invests in all 4 BRIC's, so it is possible and maybe likely that investing in individual funds focusing on each country individually might get a better overall performance
