Oh no . .. your not going to believe what I have done now !!

Ok, I am feeling soooo daft and all my family are laughing at me !!!

I decided to take some advce on here and try one of the Asian Supermarkets, especially as I needed onions (my 5kg bag had run out)

So off I toddle and sure enough outside the front of the shop there is a nice big bag of onions, in I go and pay for the onions and go to get them in the car.

As I go to pick up the bag the lovely man starts going "no, no not those ones - you paid for these ones". . . . .

I am now the proud owner of 25kg of onions for a family of 2 adults, 2 children and a baby :o

Any onion recipes please - especially any that will freeze or keep in a jar like Chutney !!??

Thankyou

T xx (very :o )

P.S - they were really cheap though !!!!

I know I should have dexplained that I had got it wrong but they were cheap and the really nice man had already carried the bag to my car - also I was so embaressed that I had made a mistake like that - I just wanted to get out of there :(

Thanks for the recipes and links - next time I will take DH with me to prevent things like that happening to me !!!

If its any comfort I buy bags of onions this size every month. But there are six of us to feed.I tend to peel, chop and bag half the onions up into usable portion sizes and then I put them in a couple of freezer bags and whack them in the freezer. The other half of the bag usually lasts me a fortnight and I do a couple of big jars of pickled onions to go with the teas too.I also batch cook a fair few in things like bolognaise or chillis. If you forward plan with the onions and put in a bit of effort they will last you ages and you wont waste any.But be warned they sprout pretty quickly
