Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me please? My dh has been studying with the OU and has accrued 110pts (may be 140pts by the end of June) He is considering moving to finish his degree off at a brick uni...has anyone any experience of credit transfer from The OU to a brick uni, were there any problems??

I hope I'm wrong but I think he'll find this easier in theory than in practice. Many universities pay lip service to credit transfer but expect the subject matter to be virtually identical to that which has been covered on the new course. He's more chance of success if it's a modular course although the first point still applies. I'm sure he'll find it difficult to do with only 110 points as 120 points is equivalent to one year of full time study. Now would be a good time to telephone university admissions tutors, before academic staff start their holidays.
Sorry to be negative but good luck and let us know how he gets on. Others may have had more favourable experiences.0 -
Thank You for your reply.
It would seem a shame if he couldn't transfer across....They do seem to shout about the credit transfer process as though it is simple, I hope it doesn't prove to be a no go.
He has tried to phone, but no answer so he left a message, will try again tomorrow.

It depends what courses you've done, what you want to do & where. Some uni's have an agreement for certain courses - https://www.open.ac.uk/2plus20

That's really useful but it's very limited, isn't it?0

Thanks SWMBO, very useful info.
As oldernotwiser says, it is limited but it's a shame we're not really near any of those Uni's involved....
Just to update, he finally got through to someone who could answer his queries today. Seems they would prefer him to start at yr1 with them but his points will allow him access to the courses he is looking at. There is an open day next week, he was told to go along and speak with the professor who is in charge of admissions onto his courses, so he can be (possibly) pushed through the queue.
