This could interest us 10 year super loyal members ;) on double reward points.

The only problem is that last year Britannia slashed the reward value, and could do so again given current market conditions, so while in theory this beats other best buy rates for us loyal mutual fans, in practice it might not :(.

They want proof of signature with the application which has to be sent, would you believe it, by snail mail. I don't have a passbook, so that looks like sending a driving licence or passport. I'm, certainly, not trusting mine to the vagaries of the postal system or even Britannia.
Unless I'm reading their requirements wrong, I wont be taking up this offer.

Correct, they want proof of signature for postal applications for existing members.

I'll probably open mine at the St Albans branch and close my regular saver at the same time.

Also, bear in mind that they want "new" money so no internal transfers.

I'm getting really  with the requirement to send certified copies of ID to some Building Socs and not others. I've recently given up on applications for the Nottingham BS and Barnsley BS because they will only accept certified copies of ID. However, I've recently opened Newcastle and Teachers accounts by online and by post with no ID. It's crazy.

I'm an existing saver with the Britannia and cannot understand why they need more ID - Surely signing an application form and sending a personal cheque from my Bank is enough as an existing saver?

Are you sure you can open it at a branch?

    Thanks for reply.
Looks like they will accept at local branch.
Wont be doing anything 'til next week, so I'd appreciate if you let us know of any problem with your application.

I just called Britannia and the advisor said that no further ID is required for postal applications if they already have your signature on file. They have a scan of my passport from when I applied for their Fixed Rate Regular Saver back in November.

Maybe worth giving them a call on tel: 0800 013 4860

Personally, I won't bother with this one.

They want your money then they want you to jump through hoops when you offer it.

Britannia branch service IMO is worse than aweful.
