BT have charged me £2.64 for a forty seven second reverse charges call. Now I am not often a soft touch but I accepted the call not knowing that it would take a kings ransom to pay for this call. Can anyone out there tell me if I'm being ripped off by BT?

BT charge £3.00 (inc VAT) to connect the call, and 20p per minute peak time

Hi
I never accept a reverse charge call but what I've told my daughter to do is this:
As you may or may not have worked out, when someone calls reverse charge, they are allowed 10 seconds or so to record their name. This is then played to you before you are asked if you accept the call. My daughter quickly says either the telephone number she is calling from or a very quick message like" outside cinema now" or "pick me up from Jans", etc. There is normally time enough to do this and the message is then played through to you. The 'robot' then asks if you will accept the call? you say 'NO' and the nice sound of "you have not been charged for this call" is heard as yopu replace the reciever. However,if you want to leave a longer message you can do this as many times as you want, with the message coming through in bits.
Hopefully BT wont catch on to this cheat too soon,
Cheers!

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

This is slightly related but 0800Reverse were told off by the ASA for not being clear on call charges for their version of Reverse charges.
