And you don't need to nail them every 4" like the guy did that I bought my speakers cables from on Ebay - junk!

Buy the flat 2 strand speaker cables, they run flat on the floor and you can use duct tape to stick em to the floor. I have regular but thicker guage wire, with good underlay and they don't show or be felt.

I guess you very neatly, using the right size cable clips, tack it to the top of the skirtings.  My brother still used the flat cable and stuck it just above the skirtings.  The bottom line is make it look neat and tidy.  and wait until they invent a wireless speaker system

On wooden floors you simply put the wires under the beading that you attach to the skirting board.

A few nicks here and there or a little gap to run the wires out and up the wall.

  • Ive ran mine behind the beading at the edge of my laminate flooring no problems, if you have carpet and are using gripper rod, run it betwen the gripper rod and the skirting, use a bit of tape every couple of feet to keep it from moving round.
  • Just about to "do up" my lounge and have the same problem. Decided to bite the bullet and have opted to grind out the concrete floor to bury the suckers with concrete and have small outlets (Cat 5) on the wall for them to neatly plug into.

no messy cables for me... ;D

Dont put the wire in betwen the gripper and the skirting, that's where the carpet get banged into to give you that folded look. Put it after the griper bar and cut abit of under lay away. Then it will fit nice.

Use a pair of side cuters to lift one side of the carpet at a time. I use a bolster to bang it back after.

or if your joist run the right way, you can lift a board at each end and use a bit of truncking to fish the cable through. nice and easy.

I fit alarms and cctv, so know how to run cables with out seeing them. Best to take your time and think about cable runs, 30 min thinking about the cable runs can save hr's .
