In the small print our solicitors extras fee is £125 p/ h.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

Up front costs
Legal costs (e.g searches) £300
On completion
Legal Fee (Solicitors / Conveyancers fee) £645 + £375
This is exactly as it was laid out on the form, doesn't include stamp duty it's just the legal costs alone.
Thanks for everyone's help so far.
Firstly is this for a property in England & Wales. If not then I can't comment further and therefore ignore what follows.
Secondly please tell us what the £300 consists of - what searches? Is a Land Registry Fee included?
What is the £645 for, what is the £375 for? Is VAT included?
Is it a house or flat you are buying?
They need to give you some breakdown.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
£1320 is not that bad really especially in this part of the country (Essex)0

We are buying in Essex, property value £145k. We are buying a house.
When I stated the breakdown of the £1320, that is literally exactly as it is laid out on the form. No further information or breakdown was provided. As we're new to the process we didn't think anything of it until my fiance's mother said it seemed a bit high. That's why we thought we'd post on here and see if anyone else thought it was a bit much.0
