What a great post! I've been to Egypt 3 times and agree it is cheap, but I've never got it as cheap as you, I'm impressed! :T

Well I have been going to Egypt for over 30 yrs and have many friends there I don't stay at the chain hotels nearly all Egyptian hotels are clean and friendly the people themselves are naturally friendly and love haggling. I eat everything there with the locals and have never been ill, but for the ones that do never buy anything at home always go to the local pharmacy the Egyptian tablets clear it up almost straight away, our meds don't help at all.
I can thoroughly recommend the hotels on https://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!/richreportson I have stayed in them both, and the one on the west bank which is near the Valley of the KIngs is an ideal hotel to view all the tombs in the Valley of the Queens, Kings and Nobles. A lovely time of year to go is October or April the days are still hot but the nights are cooler, but having said that anytime is great for me, Xmas the days are lovely blue skies, but you need a jacket for the nights. All in all you cannot beat it for a holiday, you can relax and take it easy or see all the sites but limit yourself as you can easily feel you need a holiday when you get back as there is so much to see.

Me and my son (14) are going to Minorca at the end of August for a week, we are staying at Club Hotel Aguamarina has anyone else been there? If so, can you tell me a bit about the place and temp for that time of year. Never been on my own abroad before so bit nervous. Thanks in advance
• Re Cuba Cat single parent holiday. Try Mango single parent holidays. Selection of UK and overseas short and week long breaks aimed entirely at single parents. Child prices are all reduced. Run by two english single parents who are focused on quality not profit. I tried it with my two last year and would like to go again. Made many friends at a difficyult time in my life. Everyone there is a single parent and therefore everyone is accommodating of eachother's circumstances. I'm new to this site but am willing to give more info if desired. Regards.

I am just back from San Sebastian in the north of Spain.

I would reccomend it to anyone! I have been before, and it is just a nice relaxing spot!

an hour from Bilbao, and nice walks!
• Can you recommend a hotel in that area?

The only problem.. they don't have an english website.
However, you can write them in english at info@loasifavignana.it

talking of caribbean holidays on a shoestring= this is while back now, had the 2 best weeks of my life on the island of tobago, near trinidad of course. flight only £250 return then- went in rainy season, june actually, which tourists avoid: suckers, rains 0.5 hrs a day and is most welcome. using 'lonely planet' book as excellent guide we caught the bus to the north of the island, an absolute paradise called 'charlottesville'. NO cruise ships, too small and tourists stayed at bottom of island @ 2 resorts near airport [as they do]. we were the only 'foriegners there apart from couple scientists studying unique coral beds and worlds first officially designated rain forest.payed £10 for double to sleep in someones spare room next to caribbean sea, breakfast brought to room by smiling child in morning. two weeks for absolutely every last expense INCLUDING 'flightlink' nat-express to garwick?

£750.

One way of getting inspiration is to look at airport websites, many are full of information. Just google their name and look at destinations and also the departure information for flights. This way you can maximise the convenience factor.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
• Hi all

This is my first post so bear with me. I have booked a few hols to the caribbean and egypt with a site called www.otbeach.com which books you the flight and accommodation separately and have always had really cheap good quality holidays. Last time I went to egypt and for a family of 4, all inclusive at a 4 star hotel including flights it cost £1000 for 2 weeks all in!!! Would recommend this company and would definitely go again with them. They travel to most countries.

Budapest is great. It's in Hungary and has the Danube flowing right through the centre of it. The currency is Forints and there's around 300 to the pound at the moment - not brilliant, but better value than euros. You can travel all over the city by tram, bus or metro, unlimited, for 72 hours using the Budapest Card (around 8,000 forints). The card also gets you in free or discounted to museums, parks etc, and gets you a discount in lots of restaurants. On Vamhaz korut there's the amazing Great Market Hall where you can buy loads of fruit, veg and meat at a good price - don't let them fob you off with rubbish though just cos you're a tourist - and you can get a superb hot lunch here for around £4. It's really hot in the summer, so walk along the Danube for nothing, stopping off for the world's nicest ice cream (320 forint) at the Gerbeau Cafe in Varosmarty square, and any of the many bars and cafes for ice cold Hungarian beer (around 280ft a bottle).
Use the Lonely Planet guide or Rough Guide for excellent recommendations for low cost restaurants. Stay in an apartment rather than hotels - they're cheaper and more fun. www.ownersdirect.co.uk is good - I always look for apartments with good feedback.
