arrgghh dont no who my landline is with

Hi im soooo fustrated im in the process of moving house and i decided to ring up this morning to get my phone line connected but bt insist that the phone line is with another company and they cant tell me who. The only way i can get it on with bt is paying over 100 pound to reconnect with them which im not happy about paying. Is there a number i can ring to find out who my landline is with. hope u can help thankx

What happens when you ring 17070?

If you get any answer (which will give you the phone number), then you can use any of the companies that will switch on a stopped line. (BT will do it free, but subject to a minimum 12 months - others do it for free or a small charge, but with short minimum contracts - eg post office just 15 days notice)

But if it is dead, then you will have to pay the connection fee (search for the thread on here regarding the BT £29.99 connection offer).
