Hi Guys,

I've just downloaded and installed Sunbelt Personal Firewall as one of martins recommendation but when I've tried to open the topics on top such as Shopping/Spending it won't open and my it says "ad block here by SPF". Can anyone tell me how I can fix it. Pls. bear in mind that I don't know much about computer only basic stuff.

Will I encounter more problems that I've installed it? Would I be better to stick with windows firewall? I would appreciate any replies.

cheers

To answer to my query I have unticked "blocked advertisements" and it will allow me to open some of the links. But is it safe to leave it untick?

Never heard of this exact software before, but it sounds like a rather strange thing for the firewall to do. Why don't you try zonealarm instead, which is also free. Google it, and note that there are paid for versions so you will have to have a little look around the zonealarm website. IMO You cannot rely on just the windows firewall, you need something extra.

Bisoy, I would say untick it when you find it's blocking some web content that you would rather see. Some of the more security conscious corporate environments use software which has web page blocking filters, this means that staff cannot gain access to anything which falls under a certain class or category. i.e instead of a youtube ad on a website, it is replaced by a nice bland 'blocked' picture. Although I wouldn't go so far as to tell you it is completely safe to leave it unticked, I am sure that advertisements can be harmless, but this software sounds fairly tight.

I've alsonoticed that installing firewall has slowed down my computer dramatically, perhaps this is normal and that the windows firewall has been disabled automatically, right?

Also on the privacy setting I should tick the box on "block private information"?
    many thanks

I'm afraid I have never used sunbelt and I'd never heard of it until I saw it here. I understand it was formally Kerio, which throws some light on it as I've heard of that but never use it. My advice would be to simply use a different package as I said before, but I don't know how to sort this out, sorry.
