Private hire insurance - recommendations

Hello,
my fella is a private hire driver and pays about £2k a year for car insurance.
He has a clean licence, been driving for 13 years, taxi-ing for five years, so this seems an awful lot, though I appreciate it is always going to be a lot a higher than normal car insurance.
He drives a 1.9 Laguna, though I don't think the car matters for this type of insurance.
Can anyone recommend any good ins companies for cheaper quotes?

A friend of mine gets his private hire insurance through Milestone Insurance, he did a quote on their website www milestonehouse.com & then rang them and they had a couple of new schemes and were able to get it even cheaper for him.
Its worth a try for nothing and could save you money0 -
Thanks for this, online quote was the same as what he is paying now, so maybe they will call with something better.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0

did they call you with anything better?0 -
Please do not use TFP schemes (norwich uninon) as they are a nightmare and totally clueless as I am finding out at this moment in time.Luckily I have another legal expenses policy that is being used to sort out my problems.
I always go through the broker for my insurance as they really understand what we require.Mine is usually about £1000 per year fully comp on a brand new vauxhall vectra...(this was wrote off last week(awaiting confirmation) in a non fault accident) and TFP are useless but my £18.50 legal expenses cover has already provided me with a replacement taxi whereas TFP haven't even phoned me yet!!!!!!
The choice is yours!!!!0 -
