Eon

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice. I have been at loggerheads with eon for the past few months. I have been with them for years but suddenly in January I didn't receive a bill, when I phoned them up they said that they had sent two bills out but I never received either. One may be lost but not two. Anyway I paid it over the phone.

Then two months ago I had a phone call from them asking me to read my meter as they said that the bill seemed excessive to them!!! which I gave them and they said that my bill was now £3,000. By the way I live in a 3 bedroom semi. They then changed this bill to £1,500 which I challenged again. They said that they had made two mistakes, one was that they had put the meter readings round the wrong way and also that although the meter reader had been sending them readings their computer for some reason had decided to ignore them and that I had underpaid for 4 years!!!!. They tried to put me on a payment plan but I challanged this and so they said that they would investigate it again and would get back to me. They said they would only charge me for 1 years under usage. That was about 6 weeks ago.

Today I received a bill for £750, but to cut a long story short I phoned them again to challenge this as according to the bill I use about £400 a quarter even though for two quarters I don't even have any heating on. This is ridiculous. In fact the girl on the phone asked me what accommodation I lived in and even she could not understand the amount they were trying to say I used and so has just said they will get back to me yet again.

This is causing me a lot of stress and upset as I am already at home on leave due to losing my father, actually the day they phoned with the £3,000 bill. I am so sick of the worry and upset but just don't know where to turn. I can't afford to pay a bill of £750 all in one go as I don't have much money and I don't think I owe it anyway, I have been paying all the bills that they have sent me last year. It's making me trying to grive worse as I am worrying all the time - the doctors already started me on antidepressants because I keep crying all the time. Can anyone suggest where I go from here. They just don't seem to be sorting it out and my next bill is due in two weeks.

it seems as if you have tried many times to get this resolved and although the balance is going down there are still issues.

although i dont know the full details of your situation i would say your next stage would be to take your problem to energywatch the independent energy watchdog.

they have specific teams for all the energy companies and they can usually sort out a resolution between you and the company involved.

their phone number can be found on their website.
