multiple bids from same bidder on one item

An item I have been watching now has 14 bids after they became the highest bidder.

Why?

Could I bid an extra 14 quid (still in £1 increments) and make them pay 14 quid more just coz thats annoyed me!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Only joking about the last bit...... ebay gets stranger the more you use it!

I have seen two frequently but 14!!

It sounds like a second bidder has been going up incrementally, but has been unable to beat the first bidder's maximum.

    So, for example:

Bidder 1 puts in a maximum bid of £20. Because there are no other bidders, this is 99p.
Bidder 2 puts in a maximum bid of £2. eBay says "you've been outbid, try a higher amount".
Bidder 2 keeps putting in slightly higher amounts, until they get to £15 at which point they give up.

In this scenario, your "bid history" just shows the bidder that was in highest position each time - which was Bidder1. So they haven't touched it, but eBay has bid on their behalf up to their maximum.

    Hope that makes sense! :rotfl:

So yes, if someone else bids against them, then Bidder1 might end up going higher and higher. But at some point, their maximum will be reached and they'll drop out. This is a gamble some eBayers have historically played where they get a friend to bid on their item - however, this is strictly against eBay riules and is heavily clamped down on.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
There are 2 bids before they get past the high bidder and 14 after! Took them 10 mins to make all those subssequent bids!
