Filling holes in skirting where electric socket was?

The sockets in our house are currently surface mounted on the skirting boards. On thursday we have an electrician coming to recess them into the walls and am just wondering how we go about filling the holes in the skirting. I am assuming they will be too big to just use filler.
Any thoughts appreciated.

You will be able to fill them either with a normal filler which will probably need to be built up,or you can use a proprietary wood filler and hardener,a bit like car body repair stuff.B&Q should sell this.I used it to fill an hole in my front door where a Yale lock had been and it was fine.0

Cut a piece of wood to just under the size of the hole, push in to hole, fix with no nails, then a skim of filler, then sand back to finish.0

I would agree with inactive. Use a good filler like tetron which is easily sanded.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
