Carjet / Goldcar - Malaga

I just wanted to share my experience with you all. I was able to hire a car with my VISA electron card on my recent trip to Spain.

Booked car from UK through Carjet just before I went. Although confirmation paperwork came through that Gold Car at Malaga would require credit card, I didn't need one (obviously I had double checked with Car Jet beforehand anyway). I paid Carjet for the car hire & then paid Gold Car for the petrol at the airport (& the tank lasted the whole week so had no quibble there)

Brand new Focus. Really pleased with service & would def use them again.

Thanks for a really useful post to help the many folks who want advice on hiring without a credit card.

I think we need to emphasise, however, that the important bit is that Goldcar accepted the card at the airport. Carjet are merely the booking agent, and the final say on the matter is down to the actual car supplier.

Steer well clear of carjet as they operate a full tank / return empty policy. i was just charged £70 for a tank of fuel in malaga (a seat Leon does not have an 18 gallon tank!).

The fuel gauge was stuck permanently on FULL so we had to keep topping up as if we ran out of petrol then recovery would be at our expense. they didnt want to know when we tried to complain.
