any help please. i was signed up in a local supermarket by edf. to cut a long story short the promised to cut my present monthly dual fuel by £12. i told them i was on a warm front tariff £80 month for unlimited gas electric etc. they were still adamant they could beat it!.. well they didnt and i had bills coming in that i did not agree on. basically i was sold a product incorrectly. iam fighting with them at the moment over estimated readings etc. i have wrote to them phoned them etc etc. explaining i was sold a product wrongly. still no joy now i debt collection agency letter.. any ideas anyone how to handle this.. yes i have called and wrote to the collection agency they say they can do nothing.. pulling hair out help please

Never sign up to anything when told by a salesman that they can save you money, they are only thinking of their commission for the sale. This is a tough one. If they sent you the unit rates through the post and gave you a cooling off period i doubt they will budge on this. In effect, you've had the paperwork and if you didn't phone to cancel it means you've accepted it. That's the legal way of looking at it, but i would say you've definitely been misled, the pricing structures are complicated.
Try and speak to the complaints dept, they may agree to return your supply to your old supplier who would bill you as if you never left...this is unlikely however.0
