    Hi guys

Been reading this and it's a good read, seems to answer a lot of questions but the only problem for me is that my pipes are Plastic!

I've seen the copper adaptors but not plastic ones.... the outer diameter to my pipes is roughly 17mm with an inner of 14mm, so I'm really not sure what imperial measurement this is supposed to be...

    Can anyone advise???

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Andy
If they pipe is black sounds like 3/8th you can get compression yorshire kutelite fittings and i would sugest after the fitting use copper and take out any black pipe as i have replaced loads of this as it goes brittle and leaks.

    Hi Jamie

Yeah thanks, I was thinking if I got an adaptor then to go copper afterwards! thanks, I'll look-out for those.

However the pipe is grey? but I assume that'll most likely be the same... (PB?)
  • Hi Andy
If at all possible it would be good if you could take a sample to your local plumbers merchant. if not possible i know philmac do a fitting that is universal and it fits any pipe size but you would have to find a local stockist.

There are 101 ways to do this:-

o- imperial olives to fit metric fittings
o- yorkshire/endfeed adapter but expect you will never be able to solder the main side.
    o- tube expander
    o- many more...

I would make a new 15mm stopcock fit the incoming main and use a imperial -> metric end feed on the house site.
  • plumb1 is correct no imperial size 1/2 inch & 15mm pipe use the same fitting it could be old thicker gauge copper you will either have to file it down or use a philmac fiitting they are quite bulky but the only fitting on the market for such a purpose , i work in a lot of old houses what i am advising you to do is factual .
