as well as the message

have tried google for both (above) and just get back a load of waffle (various forums etc)

can any body shed any light on it (in plain English, please)
I'm currently running Vista Basic

Thanks in advance

You could try disabling any anti-virus software before you upgrade.

If that doesn't help, a clean install might be the easiest way to do it (though of course, you'd have to back all your stuff up first).

    Sorry about that!

To be honest, you're better off doing a clean install if you can anyway.

I tried to install Vista on my sister's laptop, but it was having none of it for some reason. It seems to be pretty picky.

I hope you get it sorted one way or another!
