Store card charges

I have tried to reclaim late payment charges from Style financial services. I received a letter from them stating and I quote "The OFT has restricted its investigations to credit cards and has not consulted with Style Financial Services in relation to other products including store cards" In other words don't bother trying to reclaim these charges.
Has anybody experienced this? I would be grateful for any advice as to my next step as I am unclear if I am able to claim these charges back.
