I'd always buy your own stone; I don't like to pay the extra for a contractors time and personal mark up :o It's not hard to find a company and get it delivered in time. We use a supplier near Bromsgrove who just deal in aggregate, paving etc. Our pavers were Plaspave Sorrento and were £18.99 + VAT I think. We got a bit more off by asking for a quantity discount. Yours woud be about half that.

Sandstone, I'd look at ebay and budget about £20 + VAT per metre, probably less than that. There's a regular on these boards that has his own company selling stone and they sell on ebay too.

I think £100 a metre for laying is a bit steep based on the price of your paving. I think we paid £50ish but there was no previous drive to remove and we built it higher so there wasn't too much digging down. They don't half throw it down! Our drive was really big and it went down like carpet, they made it look so easy! (You can just see the back wheel of my car is actually on a manhole!)
