Soil Pipe Access

I am finally getting round to running our soil pipe up the side of our extension. I've just been working out which bits to get and have come across a soil access pipe
I wasn't going to put anything like this in at its "another" £10, but is it recommended? I assume it would be used it drains needed unblocking. The single storey extension houses the bathroom hence the soil pipe. Any ideas, £10 well spent or £10 wasted?

Depends on how far the next access point (ie. manhole cover) is and whether there is a sharp bend underground at the bottom of the pipe.
It will be money wasted unless you have a blocked pipe then you may be grateful it is there. Although I don't think it would be much good for use with drain rods but a pressure jet could be inserted there.0 -
Is this an internal or external soil pipe?If it's internal I wouldn't want to jet wash it, stuff could spay all over the place!!
You're unlikely to get a blockage in a vertical soil pipe, it's when it hits the sewer system that the blockages happen I'd have thought.0 -

Exactly what I thought, chicken and the egg!
It is external, and the nearest MH is only about 1-1.5m away so could access that way. I didn't think the vertical part would block, I thought though should a blockage form it might be easier to unblock through the access that get in the MH.
Thinking of saving the £10 at the moment...0 -
I fiited one on my last house as the only other access point was next doors manhole.Guess what?It blocked up,i unscrewwed the cap, blasted with hosepipe and it cleared the problem. Was glad i fitted it.0

On another note, when i did mine, found toolstation cheaper than screwfix.0

Surely its better to be safe than sorry also that would allow you to add onto the soil pipe if necessary.Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0

Its a tenner and I've always believed that there are never enough access points soil pipes and drains. In the big scheme its not a lot of money and could save you hundreds. Look upon it as an investment.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

i would definatley fit one (may be your building inspetor requires one)
toolstation cheaper
screwfix far far quicker and better after service0 -
Not been my experience.Always found toolstation very good. You pays your money and takes your choice.0

Wickes are only 4p more expensive than Tool Station too, although I think I have a tool station close by. £9.35 from Tool Station, I may well just fit one
