Laptop help please

Hi my mom is having problems with her lartop she is on AOL which was already on it and had some antivirus program on there whitch was about to run out so she installed one that aol recomended and you pay to aol.
This was on sunday and since then all she can do is switch it on and windows xp loads up but it then takes 30 min from clicking in to get main page up but it will not let you do anything
Can anyone give me any help i have the laptop with me i have tried to run the set up disc included but nothing happens and i cant find away to get to the system restore

Load windows in safe mode (Press F8 when the computer first turns on).
Once in windows, goto control panel -> add and remove programs -> and remove the antivirus program.If you're feeling down, you must be holding a duck.0 -

there is ca etrust and mcafee on there but it will only let me uninstall mcafee in safe modeNumber 4 due 21st jan0

Uninstall both but before you do download AVG for your Anti Virus http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
So in otherwords etripe and mccrappy
will be gone then install avg, also make sure you
have a good firewall installed0 -
not sure why you call it etripe,
by far and awya the best commercial anti virus program for windows. I manage 1000's of servers with it on. Agree about mcrappyDig inside; inside is the fountain of good, and it will forever flow, if you will forever dig.0 -
