I adopted a new cat and her 2 kittens last week from someone who already had 4 cats and this cat didnt get on with the other cats. Im going to rehome the kittens and have booked the cat into the vets for this friday to be spayed (her first owner didnt want her and she was taken in by the neighbours who then asked me).

My tom kitten had been gone a week now, the one that had the microchip (from my previous posts), and we wont be getting him back, the vets checked him over and found he had a hereditary illness which is also contagious(sp) to other cats. I'll miss him but he is at the best place now where he can be looked after and i can visit him, he has also been reunited with his brother, who he was very glad to see. His brother has the same condition.

But Kitty is doing her dodgy dance all round the house:o she can smell the tom and i dont know what to do until friday, i can wait that long but is there anything i can do to help her? Should i scrub the house out, she seems to be able to smell him off the doors and walls, although he never sprayed or anything. She isnt fighting to get outside though, she just seems to think there is a tomcat around the house who is ready to give her what she wants (ahem). We just got some new furniture and a new suite so its definately not that, his litter tray is outside, and we got a brand new litter tray, plus brand new food bowls.

if you have a poundland near you look for odor-eaters carpet odour and stain remover
made for stains and smells caused by faeces,urine etc. great stuff!

Hi Try washing the area with biological washing powder, apparantly the enzymes in it help break down the smell.

To be honest if she's in call she will call regardless of whether she can smell a tom cat or not. Your doing the best thing having her spayed so just keep her contained until you get her to the vets. Another thing to watch for is un-spayed females may also mark their territory.

The washing powder is the best thing for removing the smel though that is left behind by accidents.

The kittens are going together to a good home later today so she can rest in peace and quiet when she comes home on friday after her op. She hasn't been too bad (touch wood) since i typed the op and at the moment is actually sleeping in our tomcat's old bed. He didnt use it that much though, he preferred the entire sofa:rotfl:
