Chances here most people around here use vinegar & bicarb. Personally I add a dash of washing up liquid and a good dose of elbow grease.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Astonish is often well recommended but there are plenty of other ideas on offer in the Cleaning section of our MEGA Index sticky at the top of the forum listing to be found under "Ovens"

For the hob I always use ordinary household furniture polish. It cuts through grease and gives it a good shine. The oven is another story :rolleyes:2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

i use washing up liquid or general kitchen cleaner and then cheap baby oil to make it shine for ages and it stops grubby marks too..thats on a chrome oven0

I've been an Astonish fan for about 10 years. It's gentle with no nasty ingredients, but is incredibly effective. It cleans my Aga!Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

I like the baby oil idea. I'll try that next time.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I give mine a quick wipe every night with vinegar and water in a spray tub. But for burnt on bits (like egg) I use morrisons bottled lemon juice neat. It works a treat and is also useful if I've run out of fresh lemons!
If it's stainless steel, the cheap windowlene type sprays give a nice shine. (Easier than veg oil but they both do the same job.)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I sprinkle bio washing powder on mine, add a little bit of water, leave for a few minutes then give it a good scrub, rinse off then wipe over with a dab of oil on a bit of kitchen roll,it makes it sparkle.0

before i tried one, i thought it was all hype, but microfibre cloth is very very effective on every kind of surface. but i haven[t tried it for cleaning inside the oven. astonish - good results; a tub lasts ages; buy the microfibre cloths and astonish paste it in the pound shop!0
