Nice one, quite a few grammer and spelling errors in whole thread see if you can spot them all while your doing nothing !

Given the several spelling and grammatical errors in that sentence (not to mention the plain bad English) I'd suggest you hold off on assaulting other peoples spelling and grammer [sic].

I was £15k in debt when I was 20, much of which from when I was 18. When I told my mother she gave me a slap around the head for being so stupid and three years later my debt is halved and I'm on the way to becoming debt free having learned a lesson the hard way.

It's a lesson I'm glad I learned when I'm young enough to sort it out and before it got too bad.

I suggest you give your son a slap around the head and explain the same as my mother did to me.

Your son is 18, an adult and has to resolve this and frankly, your flippant attitude stinks.

    Regards

    Ash

I havent read all of the posts as theres alot but i have a few questions,
my first question is should your son not get a job to repay the loan back ?
what has your son spent the money ?
why did he take out the loan ?

i cant see how you will get the loan revoked, hes an 18 year old so old enough to be responsible, people are trying to give advice,

This is a Crazy thread!, i got my first loan at 18 also, would have got one a lot earlier if i could, ive never been one for saving if i want it i get it, and loans help me do that, thankfully ive allways paid them off though!, i think if i went to my mum at age 18 and said the bank lent me 5k and now they want it back she would say "and you want me to do what?" he took the money. if it was my kid and i could afford to pay the loan to get him out of stick, i still dont think i would, maybe a spot of bancrupsy will do this kid the world of good as he clearly doesnt know the value of money.

Just a direct question for the OP - what's actually wrong with the idea of your son just getting a job and making the payments?

What? Take responsibility? You mean, it's not someone else's fault?

If the age of 18 is relevant to this, I'd like to know the point where a loan applicant's age would not be relevant.

Aaarrhhhh, right...you are the 18 year old aren't you?

This is one of those 'I have this friend' scenarios!

I don't think it is, I simply think the OP believes this to be his problem aswell as (or as opposed to) his son's, which if he's considering bailing him out I guess it is.
